Kansas City Area Bird List
This list was compiled from lists of accepted bird sightings for Jackson, Cass, Clay, and Platte counties in Missouri from the Missouri Audubon Society and for Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Kansas from the Kansas Ornithological Society. Seasonal occurrences and habitats were taken from "The Sibley Guide to Birds" (2000), "Birds of Kansas" (2011), and bird lists from the Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center, James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area, Ernie Miller Nature Center, and The Overland Park Arboretum and Nature Center. Locations to see the species were taken from eBird listings and personal observations of the authors of this website.
